Folded Star on an 8" Hoop

Marti Leader will kick off the STARS Programs for 2020 by showing us how to make a Folded Star on an 8” hoop. You will cut and fold the material and then hand stitch to make the “summerset star”. This project will make a lovely wall hanging or gift for someone special.

Supplies: 1 yard of printed fabric, 3/4 yard of complimentary plain fabric, scissors. Marti will provide the needles, thread, backing and hoop.

Needlefelted Zipper Pouch

Needlefelted Zipper Pouch

Zipper pouches will be ready for you to needlefelt a simple floral design of your choice, to welcome spring! Using wool rooving and a special barbed needle, Mary Jane Miller will teach students how to transfer the design onto felt and then needle it. Touches of embroidery may be added but it is optional. This pouch is finished by stitching a blanket stitch around the outside. The pouch measures 5” x 8”. No felting experience is necessary.

Mary Jane Miller will teach you the steps in making this fun and easy needlefelted butterfly. Many color choices of roving will be available for you to create your own unique butterfly. When finished, you can add a pin back to wear as an accessory or a loop for hanging. You could even make a plant poke by adding a length of wire. Students can bring pictures along of favorite butterflies for inspiration! No felting experience is necessary.
